Firecraft Series Barrel FAQs

What is the total cooking space?

  • 480-square-inches of total cooking area; 240-square-inches per grate.

What type of solid fuel can be used?

  • Use any type of solid fuel, including charcoal briquettes, lump, wood chips & chunks, and full log splits.

Do I need to season my grill?

  • Yes, before first use. Seasoning your grill will burn off any manufacturing residues, as well as create the beginning of a cooked-in surface treatment that will protect your grill and add to the flavor of your food.

Should I empty my ashes after each grill?

  • Yes, ashes collect moisture, which can lead to premature rusting and decay, so you don’t want to leave it sitting in your grill.

  • Over time rust can appear on the interior of your grill. Maintaining a light coat of vegetable oil on interior surfaces will aid in the protection of your unit.

Can I use lighter fluid to light my grill?

  • We do not recommend using lighter fluid to start the charcoal or using quick light charcoal products. We recommend using an Oklahoma Joe’s Half-Time Starter which is designed to speed up the process of getting your charcoal lit.
