Smoked Turkey Sandwich
Our Smoked Turkey Sandwich brings the smoky goodness of a whole turkey scaled down for a weekend cookout you can enjoy any time of the year. Seasoned turkey breasts are cooked over applewood smoke and basted in butter until they’re tender, juicy and delicious. We piled thick slices of smoked turkey breast on tangy sourdough bread, loaded it with toppings and slathered it with mayo. Now that’s what we call a smoked turkey sandwich.
About the cut: Turkey breast is an easy meat to barbecue. However, since turkey breasts are very lean, they’re prone to drying out. We recommend that you brine, marinate and baste to deliver a juicy cut of meat.
We made this recipe on the Bronco Pro Drum Smoker, but you can make it on your smoker.
Ingredients
- 2 turkey breasts, brined
- 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 chunks apple wood
- 1 loaf sourdough bread, sliced
- 3 avocadoes, sliced
- 4 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
- > mayo, to taste
