Our Smoked BBQ Meatball recipe combines ground beef and pork to optimize the flavor of these smoky meatballs with hearty beef and juicy pork. Chopped onions, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce and chili powder give the meat more texture and depth of flavor. And smoked bbq meatballs are as versatile as they are appealing.
We made this recipe on the Longhorn Combo Charcoal/Gas Smoker & Grill, but you can make it on your grill and smoker.

BBQ Meatballs
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
- 1/3 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley
- 2-3 oak, hickory or pecan wood chunks

Add charcoal to the firebox to preheat smoker to 250°F. Toss wood chunks onto hot coals.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, chopped onions, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, egg, pepper, salt, garlic and chili powders. Form into equal-sized meatballs, about 1-1/2 inches in diameter.

Place the meatballs in your smoker. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145°F on an instant-read thermometer, about 30 to 40 minutes.

Preheat gas grill unit to 400°F.

Brush meatballs with barbecue sauce. Then transfer them to the gas grill grates. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove meatballs from grill. Serve with a sub roll for lunch, pasta for dinner or toothpicks as an appetizer.
