Wood-fired grilled oranges add a juicy burst of citrus to this delicious infused Aperol cocktail. Paired with equal parts honeyed yellow chartreuse, smoky mezcal and zesty lime juice, the Wildly Naked and Famous is a simple but thoroughly original cocktail that packs a punch of potent citrus flavor.
This recipe was created by our partner Wayne Cafariella who made the dish on our Oklahoma Joe’s® Firecraft Series™ Barrel Grill, but you can make it on your grill or smoker.

1.
To make the grilled oranges, preheat your grill with wood fire coals.
2.
Slice your orange into wedges or 1/2 inch rounds and toss them in brown sugar.
3.
Grill the orange slices over the coals to char and caramelize the outer skins. Flip to cook evenly. When they’ve developed good color and caramelization, remove from the grill.
4.
Add the grilled orange slices into a sealable jar or bottle and cover with Aperol. Close the container and allow to infuse for a minimum of 24 hours.
5.
To make the cocktail, combine grilled orange-infused Aperol, mezcal, yellow chartreuse and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well chilled—about 20 seconds.
6.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and serve.
